I thought it might be fun to share a little about myself and my creative process. Painting has been such a big part of my life, and I love giving a behind-the-scenes peek at what inspires me, how I work, and the little things that make my days as an artist meaningful.
So, here’s a quick “get to know me” in 50 questions. This post is inspired by classic get-to-know-me interviews. I’d love it if you played along too — feel free to answer these questions in the comments.
1. How does your day start?
Coffee, coffee, coffee :)
2. What first drew you to watercolour?
The medium’s luminosity, it is unmatched.
3. Favourite flower to paint?
Roses, always, they have endless layers and moods.
4. What inspires you most?
Flowers, the colours, shapes, and textures I see continually spark new ideas.
5. What’s your process like?
I plan carefully before I paint, I photograph subjects, isolate elements from several reference photos, sketch a new composition, and make sure the flow feels balanced before touching the paper.
6. Studio essentials you can’t live without?
Professional-quality paint and paper, my favourite brushes, and a good cup of coffee or tea.
7. Morning or night painter?
Morning, I love that feeling of calm focus before the day gets busy.
8. Biggest challenge with watercolour?
Patience, it rewards planning, but the drying stages can test me.
9. What’s on your studio playlist?
Podcasts, audiobooks, and classical music. I like having stories or gentle melodies playing while I work.
10. Coffee or tea?
Both, I enjoy starting my day with coffee and often switch to tea in the afternoon.
11. A small joy in your day?
Laying down the very first wash of colour, that moment when a painting begins to take shape.
12. How do you know a painting is finished?
When every element feels in harmony.
13. Favourite place to find inspiration?
In nature, I love observing the colours, shapes, and textures of the world around me.
14. What do you hope people feel when they see your work?
A sense of calm and connection to the beauty in the world around them.
15. Do you sketch first or dive right in?
Always sketch first, planning gives me freedom once I start painting.
16. What’s something most people don’t know about watercolour painting?
It’s not as spontaneous as it looks, there’s a lot of forethought and layering behind that softness and that it's an awesome and versatile medium.
17. How do you deal with creative blocks?
I go for a walk, make a cup of tea and distract myself.
18. Favourite part of being an artist?
Seeing a carefully imagined idea come to life on paper, and connecting with the artist community, it’s inspiring and motivating.
19. Least favourite part?
The waiting, watercolour teaches you patience whether you want it to or not.
20. Favourite tool besides your brushes?
My pencil, it’s where every piece begins.
21. Who or what has influenced your art the most?
Nature and colour theory, both remind me that even small shifts in hue or form can change everything.
22. If you weren’t an artist, what would you be?
A writer, something that still allows me to create and tell stories.
23. One word that describes your creative philosophy?
Intentional.
24. Favourite movie?
I love movies, there are too many favourites to pick just one.
25. Go-to comfort music?
Classical, I especially love Vivaldi.
26. Favourite season?
Late summer, when it is still warm, no bugs and you can still swim in the lake.
27. Something that always makes you smile?
Flowers in unexpected places, even a single bloom can lift your mood.
28. Favourite snack?
Salt and vinegar chips.
29. Favourite drink (non-coffee/tea)?
A really tart lemonade
30. Favourite indulgence?
A glass of wine, salt and vinegar chips, and a good period drama, the perfect combination.
31. Favourite place to visit?
Cinque Terre, the charming villages and breathtaking views are unforgettable.
32. Comfort ritual?
Wrapping up in a cosy blanket with a warm drink while listening to music.
33. Favourite author?
Jane Austen, I love her wit, insight, and timeless storytelling.
34. Favourite kind of day?
Crisp, sunny days in late summer, perfect for walks, photography, and painting inspiration.
35. A little luxury you enjoy?
Beautiful stationery and art supplies, the tactile experience is part of the joy.
36. Favourite scent in the kitchen?
Freshly baked bread, warm and comforting.

Birdsongs, calming and cheerful.
38. Guilty pleasure TV show?
A good period drama or anything visually beautiful that I can get lost in.

People looking at their phones instead of interacting with others.
40. Something you can’t live without besides painting?
Music, it always shapes the mood of my day and my work.

Fruit crumble with vanilla ice cream, comforting and delicious.

Anything pink

Comfortable, soft layers, something I can move freely in while painting.
44. Favourite thing to collect?
Beautiful paper, vintage postcards, or small objects that catch my eye.
45. Why flowers?
Flowers carry emotional meaning for me and their endless textures, colours and forms inspire me.
46. What is your biggest strenght?
I am a very empathetic person which I consider a strenght as long as healthy boundaries are in place.
47. What is your biggest weakness?
I am an introvert so any situation where I am front and centre feels uncomfortable.

Detailed, structured and empathetic.
